Storybook street art...

Street art is a cool thing - really good street art is AWESOME!

Someone clever, someone bold, brought to one particular wall in the UK an opportunity to view street art as more than just something better than flat paint to look at on a blank wall.

The constant stencil graffiti he or she took to the wall and the paint over job in retaliation told a modern day tale.

See below for how the events (story) unfolded ...

DIY worth trying ... Valentine's Day Cards

So DIY to me is a very broad term.

There are some things worth giving a good go and others, well, others that can just stay there on those youtube clips.

Anyway - DIY worth trying is about those projects that are very easily achievable, low cost if possible, have function to them or if not are just super beautiful to look at ... enter Inky & Co.

Although not a total 'from scratch' DIY - more of an 'assisted' DIY (pattern/printable/provided) ... these cute Valentine's Day Cards look the bees knees. Download all the hard work in the form of a template and get giving this Feb 14. Too easy!

Go here to the Inky & Co. Blog to get your download instructions!

Striking Truths ...

One of our favourite pastimes is Pinterest. In it, we have amassed a collection of boards that we have created for all of those things that visually stimulate our senses. And adding to it daily is not uncommon!

If you haven't heard of it or are not on it yet please do check it out - it has been a saving grace for our jumble of things that we wish to keep a hold of whilst reading web pages. You can see our pinterest picks here.

Amongst our Pinterest boards is our "And I Quote..." board - a collection of fantastic quotes by famous people (or anonymous contributors), mantras to live by, or pretty scripted reminders of what is really important in our lives.

Just recently we have come across a website that combines our love of pretty pictures, fonts, and soul soothing quotes ... not only that - you can sign up to this page to receive regular daily prose. It's called
'A Manifesto A Day' ... and was created by Bernadette Jiwa and Sian Richardson.

Find them at www.strikingtruths.com

So for a little more prettiness and hope in your life, go and check it out! We are so happy we found it ...

Raw Chocolate Cupcakes ...

Need to try these ...
Chocolate Cupcakes. No Baking. Healthy... words not usually seen together.

It's February already and it seems as though the new year resolutions have been sitting on a shelf just waiting for when they will be put to the task. Like most other people's resolutions, the inevitable implementation of the 'Eat Healthier - Ditch The Chocolate' promise is proving to haunt all of my purchasing decisions when it comes to sugar cravings. Humpf.
However, coming across an amazingly sounding recipe on the net from a healthy foods website that requires no baking and the use of real chocolate has my interest piqued. This cupcake recipe from The Healthy Chef looks amazing.
The recipe for these raw chocolate cupcakes has also been posted below, however, I highly recommend reading the entire recipe from The Healthy Chef's website for the low down on just how these are actually considered healthy (Plus you may just want to sign up to the newsletter once you have stopped drooling over some of the dishes on offer!).
Aaaahhh - I see a lovely relationship beginning to form between myself and The Healthy Chef!

For the Cupcakes
500g walnuts
2 heaped tablespoons cacao or cocoa
1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
16 pitted large fresh dates
1 teaspoon vanilla extract or paste
For the Chocolate frosting
1/4 cup honey
2 ripe avocadoes
1 teaspoon vanilla extract or paste
1/4 cup raw cocoa powder
Combine walnuts, cocoa powder, cinnamon and sea salt.
Process until ground, but not too fine.
Add dates and vanilla.
Process again. Test and see if the cake starts to come together when pressed, if not add a few more dates and a little splash of water then process again.
Scoop out into small truffle like portions and arrange onto a serving platter.
You don’t bake this chocolate cake.  Just place into the fridge for at least 2 hours to chill and set.

Combine chocolate frosting ingredients in the following order: honey, avocado, vanilla, cocoa.
Blend in a high speed blender like a Vitamix until creamy and thick.  A tablespoon or two of water can help your frosting to mix if necessary.
Pipe on the chocolate frosting over each cupcake.
Decorate
if you like.  I’ve used goji berry in mine.
Refrigerate until ready to serve.
Makes 40 mini cupcakes

Emily Green

Just wondering ... is it strange to have a rather large obsession with coloured beads?

Emily Green necklaces & earrings are so irresistible that my own personal collection is growing at a rapid rate of knots!
Yes I find it perfectly acceptable to own not 1, not 2, but 3 of her colour combo fancies (plus assorted studs) - guilty!

Melbourne based designer Emily Green keeps the colour coming - check out newbie Mitzi from her 9 bead/silver plated chain collection ...
